Five Skin Care Resolutions for 2018
2018 is finally here and your Venice, FL dermatologist and dermatology team here at Wasserman Ulitsky Dermatology are glad to wish you a Happy New Year! We’d like nothing more than to be able to start you off on the right foot this year so we’ve given you some helpful skincare resolutions you can make to improve the condition of your skin. We hope you’ll take these skincare tips to heart!
Wash up After Exercising
If you’ve been exercising and you’ve been breaking a sweat, it’s a good idea to get cleaned up right away. Not washing up afterward is bad for your skin and can leave you with some unsightly acne. If you’re not capable of getting in the shower immediately after working out, we recommend wearing moisture-wicking clothes or using salicylic acid pads to wipe your sweat off.
Take off Your Makeup at Night
If you want to keep your skin healthy, it’s important for you to remove all of your makeup at night – every night! Sleeping with makeup on can lead to acne, dry skin, and wrinkles that are caused by a collagen breakdown. Don’t let this makeup mix with your skin oils at night; take the time to remove your makeup, no matter how long of a day you had earlier.
Wear Sunscreen Every Day
Throughout the year and even in the winter, the sun emits harmful UV rays that can cause damage to a person’s skin. These UV rays are always present and independent of hot or cold weather and can’t even be blocked by clouds either! Because these UV rays are damaging and always present, you should wear sunscreen everyday to keep your skin looking youthful, healthy, and wrinkle-free.
An adult will take about a month to replenish his or her skin – about double that of a baby. Because it takes so much extra time for the skin to replenish, skin cells will start to dry out and lose their luster. However, by exfoliating and scrubbing your dead skin cells, you’ll be able to achieve more radiant skin. We recommend using a face scrub and a chemical exfoliant about twice a week to make your skin look better than ever.
Book a Yearly Mole Check
It’s vital to see your dermatologist once every year to check your body for moles. It’s possible that a mole that you thought was harmless might not be and it’s also possible that your dermatologist might spot a mole that you had no idea was there. These yearly visits to the dermatologist will help make sure that your skin is healthy and you don’t have any underlying problems.
