Neuromodulators

Introduction

Fine lines and wrinkles are formed as muscles contract over time. Every time we eat, smile, or talk, we use muscles of facial expression. With more contractions, more wrinkles form. Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, etc) are injected into the muscle to prevent the release of the chemical that normally causes that muscle to contract, thereby relaxing it. All injections at WassermanUlitsky Dermatology are performed by Board Certified Providers.

The best candidates for neuromodulators are those seeking an enhanced appearance with fewer fine lines and wrinkles. It is important that those seeking treatment are not pregnant or nursing, and do not have a neuromuscular disorder. Your provider will go over your medial history prior to your treatment.

Neuromodulator injections are relatively painless, as the injection needle is very thin. Day to day activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. Optimal results are seen at 14 days. Results may last three to six months, depending on one’s metabolism.

Time: 10-20 minutes

Botox®

Botox Cosmetic is the first FDA approved protein that helps to relax the muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles. While Botox can treat a number of medical conditions, such as excessive sweating, it is most commonly used for cosmetic purposes, primarily to reduce wrinkles of the face and neck.

Dysport®

Dysport is an FDA approved injection used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause them. Dysport injections are ideal for nearly anyone wishing to restore a younger, more refreshed appearance by reducing fine lines and wrinkles on the face and/or neck.
